But officials from the General were hopeful at a meeting here yesterday. Susan Docherty, GM's North American vice president of Buick, Pontiac and GMC, even suggested that if one of her three brands were to get its own version of the upcoming Chevrolet Volt, it would almost certainly be Pontiac.

"My personal take: I think [the Volt] would make a great Pontiac," Docherty told PM. "What greater brand than Pontiac to charge ahead with that technology?"

GM is attempting to limit the overlap of vehicles within the company. So a Pontiac version of the Volt would have to stand apart. Our best guess? Since Pontiac is GM's most youthful and sporty brand, its version of the range-extended plug-in hybrid would need to have responsive handling, quicker acceleration and its very own—and very striking—exterior design

They should make it look like this:

I'm 100% behind the idea of a performance driving E-REV. Please Pontiac, let us know about these plans soon if you really are planning this. I'd like to know before I get too deep into the Volt.

I second DaV8or. Whole-heartedly. 100%

Maybe we could get something a little closer to the Volt concept. I'll gladly give up some electric range to get an exciting, true Volt concept derived car.
