Today for the first time since I've owned my Volt I was presented with the Engine Maintenance Mode Event.

It popped up this am as I was leaving for work, I dismissed it. This afternoon it popped up as I was leaving work, again I dismissed it as I wanted to do it at home in my drive-way.
So when I got home I pulled only partially into my garage and shut the Volt off. I then re-started it and again I was presented with the EMM message, this time I accepted it and immediately the battery was replaced with the fuel gage icon and the ICE started. I was going to get out of the vehicle, check mail and go into the house as the message indicated it could take "10 minutes" but I noticed a timer was now displaying in the DIC counting up from ZERO% to 100%, it was moving at a pretty good clip so I stayed in the car to monitor how long it took and what the car was doing. It took about 2 minutes and when it reached 100% the motor shut off and the car returned to battery power.
I did note that the center power usage LCD didn't register ANY fuel being used as I was led to believe, could it be because I wasn't driving when the EMM was in operation?
Just wanted to share this and inquire about the lack of fuel use being recorded for the EMM event.
