You know how many people like to add tons of huge speakers and disturb everyone at the stop light? Well, on another forum, the question came up about how aftermarket sound systems will affect the Volt.

Increasingly, manufacturers are designing cars that are unfriendly to aftermarket audio equipment. My '05 Subaru Legacy has the head unit integrated with the climate control and center stack in a way that leaves you stuck with the Subaru stereo. With the optional Subaru subwoofer the sound is more than tolerable but you're not going to win any thump contests.

I'm pretty sure the Volt is not going to be a big audio tuner car. Lots of power-hungry amps would kill your electric range, for example.

On the contrary, I think that having the huge battery means that could well be the BOOM car. No more having your headlights dim when the bass gets going.
