Two days ago, I could not communicate with Onstar with my I phone, and assumed it was the website... After a number of prompts to drive the car try again, I did as instructed, went into the car,, and tried to call Onstar... The whole Onstar strip was dead, no green light, nothing lit up. Then it wouldn't recognize my IPhone. brought it to the dealership,, and after much diagnostic testing i was told I need a new communication module... Any one else had a similar problem?

Hopefully it will be an easy fix by the dealer. Good luck.

@ rfeldman2,

Sorry to hear that. Let us know how everything goes a the dealer. Hopefully they will get that taken care of for you and get your Volt back in touch with OnStar as soon as possible.

The part was authorized today by Volt, and should be shipped tomorrow.. The dealer tells me it's an easy fix, the module is located by the brake pedal. I was glad to hear this, I thought they had to go into the panel where Onstar call buttons are located. More to come.

I had the same issues and it was resolved by unpugging and replugging the module back in again. Works on my computers too.

was the dealer able to get a error code out of the car for this problem ?

No idea, I was just happy all was fixed. My issue was about a year ago and has not resurfaced, actually the only issue I've had with my Volt.

The unplug of the module is a good tip. If anyone has time, how about a pic of the module if it is easy to ge to?

Something similar happened to me, just one time -- although I don't use OnStar a lot (and I've only had the Volt a week) so who really knows.

I tried to connect using OnStar on Monday night and about 3 seconds after I hit the button, it said "lost contact with communications module" or something similar. The OnStar buttons were also all dark, too, briefly.

I waited a few seconds and tried again, with no further problem. While I was on, I had the rep check for codes and run remote diags, which all came up clean. No recurrence since, despite having been playing with the MyVolt site and remote commands quite a bit.

My onstar stoped working last Saturday, I unpluged the 12v battery for a few minutes and connected it back. No change, later that day it started working. Now a week later it is out again. Where is the Onstar module? I would like to reseat it. Make sure the connections are tight. Otherwise I see a trip to the dealer.

Sounds like I am having this same issue.. not sure where that module is so i am just going to take it to the dealership.. but my dealership is terrible.. they have been featured on Jalopnik.com .. oh joy

Cant use onstar and can't connect to my cellphone via bluetooth. The phone icon is available but the animation loops once or twice and nothing else happens.
