I'm guessing HID = drain your battery faster?

Lot of people have done this. I have not. I'm sure some will chime in.

Here is a good thread:

It actually uses less power than the regular light bulbs. Most people use the V-LEDs kit or the DDM Tuning kit.

See this thread. http://gm-volt.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-6520.html. You need a 9006 size kit. Most people use 35W 5000K, though some use 6000K or 55W.

Here's the V-LEDs kit (regarded as the best but very expensive)

Here's the DDMTuning kit, you'll have to pick the specifications there, I don't have a link to the exact kit you need.

Yes on both, but more importantly they produce way better lighting.

Indeed, forget about the energy aspect of it good or bad. It is a huge improvement in visibility over the stock headlights!

I got the DDM tuning kit. 5000K 55 watt. its unreal the difference in light. its so much brighter. it looks like daylight in front of my volt now. I would recommend that you adjust your lights down just a bit. I was getting people flashing me thinking my brights were on. I adjusted them down just a little and now no one flashes.

Wow, I'm sold. Ordered some from DDM for both my Volt (55w) and my Victory (35w) Motorcycle.

Isn't it the watt rating that indicates how much electricity is being used by the lights? The two popular HID kits mentioned are 35 or 55 watts. I believe that the Volt stock HIR2 9012 bulbs are 55 watts each. So getting the 35 watt HID kit will save a little energy and may provide better illumination. But even the 55 watt HID kit wouldn't use any more power and apparently provides a lot better illumination. Is there any downside to installing the V-LED XPU kit (the better of the two kits mentioned)?
