: Merry Christmas to Me
I bought a silver ice metallic Volt this morning for $4000 below MSRP and couldn't be happier. I would like to thank all who have posted on this website for providing invaluable info. to me in determining what would be my next car. I am replacing my dear 2004 Prius with 203,000 miles. It has been a great car for me, nothing ever went wrong, and I only hope that the Volt will earn an equal if not greater amount of respect from me. In the end, it became clear to me that the Volt is the better car for me. This will be the first non-Toyota car I have owned in 25 years!
As for the $4000 below MSRP: I saw an ad claiming this dealer discount applied to all of their Volts in stock. I drove down to Penske Chevrolet in Cerritos Ca. to check it out and they had one in stock that was almost identical to what I was looking for(except for the park assist option). All the numbers crunched out to be true and drove my Volt home a couple hrs. later.
tboult 12-10-2011, 11:22 PM Congrats on the Christmass present, and on that great price. Guess the end of years deals in CA can be really good!
EZ Volt 12-10-2011, 11:27 PM Merry Christmas indeed! Congrats! Mine continues to impress me more each day, 3 months in.
I am SO curious to see how December sales numbers will turn out, with all the BS that's been going on.
Congrats on the car. I have to say that I'm jealous of the that $4K below MSRP. Nice deal!
Also love the "Merry Christmas To Me". I suggested to someone else that they get a license plate like that. You've got a nice color for a nice contrasty green/red plate.

Merry Christmas, very cool to know that you have The Amazing Chevy Volt EREV now home and charging as we speak!
However, with the 'NEW' Gm still playing the economies of scale ramp up, MSRP to Invoice, Invoice to Net minus holdback, tight to the bottom line, that $4,000.00 under MSRP does NOT exhist today unless...
1 ) The Dealers one Volt Demo, GM 2 weeks ago released ALL DealerDemo/Training Volts for immediate sale to attempt to reach the sugar spot 10,000 2012 retail US/ Canadian deliveries, was the one that you purchased-$1,500.00 dealer cash included to offset demo miles and decal removal.
OR................................................ .................
2 ) With the above noted you also had GM Credit Card Earnings bundled into your purchase or lease.
I am happy to see our members wishing you the best with your new Volt, however, as you are posting here for the first time...ever...and the website of Penske Chevrolet of Cerritos is not screaming about Amazing Chevy Volt's at any price other then MSRP...
I am deeply inclined to consider that you are attempting to effect the marketability of future Volt sales to this owner body and potential owner body by Lo-Balling a pretend purchase, or at least a fictional dollar amount of sale price that is NOT CREDIBLE!
...........A stock picture ( *.jpg ) of a Volt ?
MSRP to invoice IS around $2,000.00. ( period ) plus or minus................
Below is the breakout web sale price ad page for a base Volt + an option or two at the Dealer that you received your $4,000.00 off purchace.
Sorry, as a Dealer of this Amazing Chevy Volt EREV I Do NOT believe this to be an honest post.

I really hope that I am wrong about this as I promised the member base that I would NOT bring my antiVolt naysayer challenges to this wonderful place.
Well, happy for you anyways. In fact I envy you if only your imagination was something that came near to the truth.
If I am wrong............... If you are not just spoofing the member base here I will donate $100.00 dollars at once to the Charity of your choice.
You know how to reach me.

Sundance, the OP must be telling the truth, I mean, there has already been a first time poster on this site saying that he was willing to sell a new Volt at dealer cost, so $4,000 under MSRP is believable. Right? LOL!
The stories seem to be following a certain arc.
But who knows, it is the end of the year, Christmas around the corner, and there might be a dealer willing to take a hit to get the Volt sold. Possibly. But there are still people waiting to get their Volt, so it seems to be limited by supply, not demand, but the fire articles make anything possible.
bonaire 12-11-2011, 09:02 AM The more options installed (Nav and such) the more room to play with the discounts. Plus, if it was a demo, 1500 GM cash to dealer leaving only 2500 remaining. I do believe we will see some additional incentives going into the last couple weeks of December. One dealer told me there is a GM Loyalty database for people who already own GM vehicles and they can offer an additional $1K off (or possibly pocket that cash if not discussed).
Anything is possible when it comes to dealing with dealers, but when you get a great deal on price, it usually means you paid a bit extra for a car maint. agreement or something. Usually. But it is the end of the year and there have been a ton of negative articles about the Volt lately, maybe the dealer really wanted to get the car off the lot.
tboult 12-11-2011, 10:02 AM Sundance: also consider that this is CA, and with the new HOV and CA rebates for the 12 1/2 with enhanced CA emissions, selling a 2012 volt may become very difficult. Why buy one from the lot and lose out when you can order a new one for march and get a HOV and a $1500 rebate. As they dealer has already paid for the car, they might view this is a close enough to get the car sold. And if there was a trade-in they can often make up a deeper discount by offering slightly less for the trade.
I am glad that you challenged with a good hearted move. I hope to hear you donated some-money to a charity, and it will be a merry christmas there as well.

You are obviously far from happy for me. I can tell you that I was skeptical when I saw the ad but decided to take a chance. The sales person that sold me the car is Erica Beltran and I had a very pleasant experience. The deal applied to all Volts in stock, including Volts at their other lot in Buena Park. They happened to have 9 at Cerritos. I was looking for a base model, no options. The closest they had was my silver one with the park assist/rear camera option (by the way, it had 8 miles on the odometer). But if the deal was true, I decided that I could live with that option. Out the door, after tax, lecense,... I paid $40.066.69. To me, it was a matter of timing: B.S. Volt battery issues, end of the year, CA HOV Volt coming soon...the time was right for dealers to offer something like this. In fact, one week ago, another dealership was advertising a Volt for $3,999 off invoice but had only one at that price.
Give Erica a call and ask her about the deal your good friend Sam got on Saturday. Please send the $100 the the Salvation Army.
Sam
Jedi2155 12-11-2011, 07:54 PM I will believe the OP, as I just talked to their Buena Park office 2 weeks ago about the 2012.5 Volt. I was ready to order one but they told me they won't be taking orders for those until Dec. 12th. With all the bad press and upcoming offers, I can understand how they were able to score Volt for so low. I wish I could get one right now....but must wait for the HOV lane...
