Late reply, but lets look at that

.95 * .9 = .855

Not much better than 84%. Keep in mind that this appears to be a "soaker" charge. In that the Charger, if not properly designed, leaked charge -after- the battery is completely full. Maybe not much, but not much for 10+ hours starts to add up

Simple, convert the electricity consumed to charge the battery pack into BTUs then equivalent gallons of gasoline. Combine with the ICE mpg (after 40 miles of BEV operation), and you have a blended (composite) MPG rating that can be compared apples to apples with standard ICE competitive automobiles.

Now you can have a "MPG" sticker number that consumers can use to conduct a fair economic comparison versus pulling out the ol' excel worksheet and running the numbers...

40 MPG seems to be a reasonable goal while running the Volt on it's internal combustion engine however, considering the method the internal combustion engine is used to only drive the generator, it should do much better than that. I understand that the engine is running at somewhat a constant RPM which converts to burning as much fuels at slow speeds as fast would drastically result in differential of MPG.

With the 230 crap GM put out, I don't trust GM to be honest about anything. Kinda of like expecting to get an honest assessement out of our government.

GM needs to be up front and honest to all. I still believe in the VOLTEC concept but not in the management. Sorry, we didn't do it, GM did.

No car makes sense financially. Riding the bus makes sense financially.

Cars make sense EMOTIONALLY. 230 is an emotional number (obviously, right?) and will sell cars.

As a stockholder (taxpayer), I would like GM to be *more* forthcoming with plans about spending my money!! As a stockholder, I also want GM to hype the hell out of every product and get some sales numbers!

When people go into a dealer asking about 230 or Volt or anything else, they will be in the grips of my sales force. Muahahahaha.
