Electric Vehicle Owner says...
See, now I just sound like factless, baseless hot air and sh!t.

Actually....yes. Lot of important sounding words without really saying anything. But at least it sounds intelligent.

The guy at the Washington Post has a valid point.
E-REVs are NOT affordable. Fuel cell cars if they
are mass produced are affordable and unlike BEVs
and E-REVs fuel cell cars don't use any gasoline
at all. Forget 450 tons of CO2, think no particulate
pollution and practically no CO2 emissions.

Mercedes has said that it will market a fuel cell car
for $30k in the near future. If that is true, a series
hybrid that costs $40k+ just doesn't make sense
from an environmental and energy independence
standpoint.

Go nuclear, the electricity for electric cars whether
they be hydrogen cars or BEVs has to come from
somewhere. Go advanced solar technology. Yes
to hydrogen pipelines.

If $40k is what an eco friendly car is going to cost,
then there is no excuse for not making that car a
fuel cell car. An eco friendly car should be as close
to non polluting as possible. Gasoline is out of the
question. If GM has spent a billion dollars to market
a series hybrid instead of a fuel cell electric vehicle,
then it has made a humongous mistake.

Don’t forget, most people unfortunately think of electric cars as slow, uncomfortable and slugish”golf carts”. Another problem is also caused by NOT reading the entire story and thinking the VOLT will have a 40 mile range PERIOD! It’s unfortunate those people have a voice that can be heard by thousands.

Well said. The homely slow and sluggish idea is particularly well entrenched Maybe when there are some real Volts people will see that it is time for some new ideas.

As a foreign sports car driver I used to not take a second glance at most US auto brands. Chevy change all that when I first discovered the Volt. I am now subscribed the all news feeds I can find, extremely excited about its release and will gladly trade my sports car to be amongst the first Volt drivers. Chevy you guys are on the right path, never give up, find a way to accomplish this vehicle, no matter what the haters say. If you changed my point of view - you have a very solid market!

Noah - I agree with your #214, so you stopped making the perfect (complete) the enemy of the good (relative improvement of any amount to start). Please tell Breathe Easy. Since this site is about an electric vehicle, I'm happy to keep the blinders mostly on for that. That already gives us more than enough to gabble over, without topics like optimal high population density municipal size for efficiency and transportation policies to maximize overall energy efficiency, yet to minimize pandemic risks in an energy optimized context. See, now I just sound like factless, baseless hot air and sh!t. ok, Off for a ride on my electric vehicle for lunch. Weeeeeee!!!!!

ArkansasVolt - I did that with GM's 2007 public promise of a plug in SUV in 2009. No one on this site laughed.

#217 Mark Wagner

Keep a spreadsheet of them and what they said, and bring it back up in say about 3 or 4 years from now. That will be fun. :D

It's unfortunate that today's media is entirely profit driven because controversy often sells better than accurate analysis.

None of these negative articles on the Volt will mean much if the Volt is released to the public on time, meets expectations, and sells well -- and it WILL sell well when gasoline prices are high. (It is not a matter of "if they will catch on", I believe it's a matter of "when".)

I hope we keep track of all the nay-sayers so we can remind them of their words 2 years from now.
