Awesome info! I was honestly just thinking about something similar to this the other day so, it was almost “weird” when I ran across this. You would be surprised how many people simply have no idea when it comes to this kind of stuff. We haven’t heard anything lately from GM about an all electric version of the Volt, have we? Maybe we did and I missed it.

There was a clip on way back when. Said something like, ‘definite possibility in the future, but not in this generation’ I took that to mean absolutely no plans, but we don’t want to say never.

Put that in the same bag as the ‘When does the C7 Corvette come out?’ I think.

40 grand? I would be out at that point. The tax break in real dollars is about 2500 in pocket, wouldnt even make the downpayment. 30 grand or less is the huge market price point.

GM has some pretty small cars available in Asia and Europe that seems to be good candidates for use as an electric car shell. Just rip out all the petroleum required stuff and stick in batteries and electric motors. Sure seems like they could get into the city car business pretty quick, if the wanted to and had the capital to do it right. Probably that is why they don’t. Capital to do it right.

Sounds like iMiev from Mitsu will be available here in the U.S. by 2010 with a pretty good range for an all electric car. Should make a good city car for a lot of us.
