The Opel version looks like a bad ass set of wheels!
The Chevy version looks.... well it looks like a Chevy!
Why can't we get the models that have the cool Euro design?
NO GM - because we live in the States doesn't mean we want white toast. Give us the hot looking one, not the bland US-afied version!

The great thing about America, is that even before the Volt becomes available, there will likely be thousands of companies out there just ready to sell you any kind of body panel redesign possible. The thing about a concept car is that you are not supposed to become, well, excuse me for saying it this way, but you are not supposed to become fixated with it as if there was not any way you could have a follow-on production design customized yourself.
The understated color silver likely is the way you are supposed to be able to best see the "lines". From there, you can imagine how you would want it customized if that is your preference.
It's surprising that it seems several people are "quitting/kicking & screaming", as if the electric propulsion green-evolution means nothing whatsoever at all in the purchase of a Volt. I find that amazingly shallow.
As of this date 01-15-09, a recent GM story mentioned that the majority of GM vehicles may have electric propulsion incorporated.
Perhaps the esteemed Corvette may get the sudden electrified acceleration "jolt" as well. That way, anyone who wants something closer to the original concept Volt may get an opportunity later on to become satisfied with a different style.
Maybe my position on the wait-list at 45,594 will now be just that many fewer positions closer to being able to get a Volt.

GM Management hasn't learned a DAMN thing at all from its past and on going mistakes. Back when the Chevy Volt concept first became public knowledge, I remember thinking WOW, finally an electric car that dosen't look like the traditional image of a dull and boring golf car. It stood out, looked sleek and muscular. It reminded me of the proposed 2010 Chevy Camaro. I also remember thinking that GM was on the way to becoming Number 1 again. But true to form GM took a great idea and let it slip through its fingers. The new Chevy volt looks like a Damn Whimpy Jap car. What idiot at GM decided to castrate the original muscular Chevy volt? I'd like like to castrate that SOB. Heres a suggestion; Hire me to to become president of GM. I'll show you how to run a company

How about cramming one of those batteries and motors into that little Pontiac two seater (forget the ICE). Now that would be a sweet electric car.

I graduated HS in 1972, to give you some perspective. Until I started driving Mercedes and Jags, much later in life, I never owned anything except GM cars, mainly Pontiac's. Wouldn't touch a Ford or a Chrysler to save my life. I WANT a car from GM!!! What they have done to the Volt is why I can't buy cars from GM anymore. The concept Volt looked HOT, SPICY and Expensive (well-made). The production model looks CHEAP, watered-down and weak. The committees and bureaucrats have done it again!!! Don't they get it!? I would sacrifice a few miles per amp, or whatever you call it, for a design that looks better than a FIRST GENERATION Prius!!! I would pay MORE MONEY! This egg-smooth, me-too design is EXACTLY why I won't be plunking any money down. I cannot get over how the makers of '57 Chevy's and '69 Chevelle SS 396's and numerous other gorgeous classics has come to this.
