Once again GM has gotten it all wrong and let the foreign car makers take the lead. This car looks like a golf cart. Why can't American car companies build a car that's desireable and functional in a green environment. I'll take A Tesla, thank you very much. Now if this car looked like an Infinit G35/G37, I'd be first in line to buy one.

Has anyone seen the Honda FX Clarity ?

All of this continuous "Hype" about a new vehicle that we dearly need ..... I'm ready to buy Richard Wagoner .... Why so many hold-ups?? .... Are you waiting for Toyota and Honda to take the market??? GM is acting like they never have come out with a new model before ... "You know Richard" .... Some of us would settle for 25 miles of battery right now .... Just get the program going!!! Let America save GM by buying a teriffic product!!!

As McCain looks for the crank in the front of the engine to try and start the car. Curious onlookers snicker quiety at the old buffoon.

That's funny. I don't agree, but it's funny (not hate speech.)

There are a minority of posters in this thread (not naming names, here), who should forget about Lithium in batteries, and start thinking about it in medication.

…The evil necon scumbag has spoken…

Wise Golden...is ROTFL!

But wait a minute...maybe what Jackson said is hate speech.

That rendering was done by a visitor to this site, just before departing for duty in Iraq, nino (#67). It was his idea to put on the EV1 wheels (this has never been seen on any concept model or official GM artwork of the Volt).

55. READYTOEXPLODE

Like GW Bush himself said in one of his State of the Union addresses ... we're ADDICTED to oil. Yes, we probably need to drill for more oil to keep America from getting the DTs (like with boozers who try to quit). BUT ... like with any addiction to drugs or alcohol, our OIL addiction is killing us a little more every day. We're about to blow out our liver before long.

We gotta do a LOT more than just drill for more of this toxic product called oil. We gotta stay away from the damn liquor store. Cut down on the hard stuff at least. Going to hybrids is a bit like switching to beer and wine I guess. We gotta do something, we all know that now. At least America is finally admitting that we have a problem. That's the first step you know. :)

Just watch T. Boone Pickens' commercial. He's an oilman. He's telling it like it is. He got rich off of getting us addicted to oil. He probably feels bad about it now. Even if prices for gas go down for awhile they will SURELY go right back up before long because the rest of the world is getting the addiction to oil too ... especially China and India. Like Pickens himself might say, they are slurping down oil from the world's "oil feeding trough" like there's no tomorrow.

The WARNING light on America's dashboard is flashing red ... "CHECK ENGINE". If we continue to be stupid and do nothing or very little, we're going to throw a rod in the engine and blow the damn thing up. A LOT of us will be stuck on the side of the road out in the middle of nowhere. We definitely need to CHECK THE ENGINE. We need to ELECTRIFY that engine with cars like the Volt. Not in 10-15 years like we've been doing, but RIGHT NOW. Electricity is much more flexible "fuel". That's one of the reasons GM calls it the e-FLEX powertrain.

When I was a kid I remember a song by Huey Lewis called "I Want A New Drug". That's what America and the whole world needs ... a NEW drug besides freakin' oil. Oil is making everyone sick, sick, sick. Electricity is much better for the world. :)

@64 MM

You have to have at least some batteries to get anywhere close to 50mpg, which gets a lot of its fuel efficiency from regenerative braking.

I don't know much about the process of getting a new car to the market, but I hope they don't "girl-it-up" anymore. I like the sporty look of the first ones.

Why do we need to wait for the battery? If this thing gets 50mpg with a small gas motor just run it as is and plug in the batteries when they become available...
