I am from Scotland. This is the first US car that I have really ever been excited about or would consider buying when for sale here in Europe. I just cannot wait until 2010. Well done GM. I quite like that John McCain too - must be his Scottish background and his support for the Volt of course.

Damn, It's time.

We in Germany paid 1.56€/litre* today. 2 more Years and the Fuel companys won't see a cent from me again :-).

*Jeah thats right we pay 10$ per Gallon. If you dont live in Europe, you don't know what it means to pay for fuel.

Grizzly @ 203

I drive a Grand Am as well. 2003 GT 30th anniv. It is a great car, no problems yet cept a fuel pump (120,000 miles), it looks good, fun to drive, has some style, and I get 30-32mpg back and forth to work. I wish GM would build more cars like this.

I also expect to replace it with a Volt. The Volt would be perfect for me.
But it has to look good and have some style. I live 2.5 hr a day in that car and I won't hold my nose doing it by driving a rolling bubble.

What is this, Death Race 2000? I'm sorry to hear that my bicycle friends force Terry K, to make unsafe passes. (Mean, mean cyclists! They are all bad people!) I know it is not in Terry K's kind heart to make those unsafe passes and threaten innocent lives. Bicyclists should be more like Harley riders (cheap shot, I know - Most Harley riders are decent folk too).

I ride at about 20 mph, I am typically in a hurry, and I ride where there is good pavement. When there is a shoulder or bike lane, I ride in it (unless it has been neglected). When I am in the bike lane or shoulder, people throw things at me, they honk, they yell, they see how close they can drive next to me, and they make unsafe passes. I know that not every motorist does that, only a few ignorant types. Most people are good and trend towards peaceful coexistence.

If any of you bicyclists out there have road bully experiences like mine, I suggest you ride with a helmet video cam to record the offense and the offending vehicle. Then you can use that evidence to call in a citizen's arrest. If you don't have a helmet cam, ride with a partner who can vouch for your story when you talk to the judge.

Didn't this site used to be more astute and less asstoot? There is a difference between having an opinion and being opinionated. Decent people offer reasoned, educated opinions and respectfully listen to opposing arguments. Sometimes the opposing arguments change one's opinion and the conversation elevates the participants. We should try to stay on topic and leave the prejudices for conversations with our like-minded friends. We are in mixed company. We should act like it.

What has this got to do with the Volt? I guess it has to do with the Volt's quietness. Even as a bicyclist, I want a quiet Volt. I respect cars when I ride - they can kill me, or worse. I look for them. I hope they look for me too.

Noel park #124

"You ought to hear the auto trans in our 2006 1500 clang when you drop it into gear from neutral. They have had over 20 years to refine these 700R4 derivatives and it still jerks. We gotta get some product in the showrooms man."

*** *** *** ***

Noel,

I hear you and I agree. My 2000 Ponti Grand AM has over 221K miles on it, but I'm not going to buy another gasoline car. The time is right and GM has chosen the right path and the right gamble if you will! It's now a matter of dialing it in! Options NEVER hurt anyone.

Sooner is BETTER!
