I think the price is high but in the range of “better than ordinary” cars like BMW and the like. For those without this kind of money, there is the ZENN at $12K

I think GM should start a pre-order program and it could be managed through the local dealerships. I would like to see something like this: 1) A $500 deposit would guarantee a priority placement for Volt delivery. 2) At a price of $30k or less (base model). 3) Ownership of the battery. 4) And… ok, a couple of tee-shirts that say “Future Volt Owner.”

This idea to link people to a car that doesn’t exist (even the Tesla was at least available for test drive) is unprecedented. This would be a newsworthy event. I want number 1000.

I agree, Lyle. And when our waitlist reaches 10,000 (well before the NYC gathering), that will be newsworthy enough to alert several media outlets, which in turn will raise awareness in general to the VOLT as well as to gm-volt.com!
