The Chevy Volt will be on display in Southern California for the next few days at free-of-charge events. I know many of you live in that area, so this is a great opportunity to see the car in the flesh and ask the GM folks questions. Given how much we at GM-Volt.com read and think about the Volt, I’m sure we would be able to answer a lot of basic questions from passers-by as well.I’ll be going this Sunday to Torrance if anyone wants to meet up.

I would go but my only problem is I live in Texas, I wish they would bring the volt to dallas or houston sometime.

Unfortunatey, I won’t be in the area either. I live in St. Louis.

I would love the see the waiting list increase to 100,000 to show GM the strong demand for the Volt. We should all tell our friends and family about the Volt and if interested they should sign up for the waiting list.

I live in Torrance and I’m planning on going to see Volt on Sunday.
December 8th, 2007 at 4:49 pm
I’m currently working with commute, a 15.5 hour work day 6 days a week. Sunday is my only day off for family. Also knowing this is the Concept & their will likely be some radical changes to improve Aerodynamics, I’ll save my gas to see Rev.1. Thanks for the offer & update.

Wrong coast for me. Thanks for the invite though.

Yeah a Dallas/Ft. Worth showing would be great.
AES - if they give you an opportunity could you take a few pictures of the Volt under the hood?
December 8th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
There are already some photos from under the hood circulating online:

Nothing really impressive or revealing: it looks like a bunch of lead acid batteries and a golf cart motor to get it on/off the stage.

If anyone lives in San Francisco, the Volt is going there too:

We will be having a massive GM-Volt.com community get-together soon…
I am planning to do it in NYC in April alongside the NY Auto Show. Will invite in GM execs for discussions and Qs and As and lectures.
We will need to start organizing..I will let everyone know soon.
I am convinced our wait-list will reach 100K by mid-2010; definitely spread the word to ALL - email all your contacts and tell them to do the same.

Great idea Lyle.
My wife has been wanting to take a vacation to NYC and I’d love to see it again (I was there back in the ‘91). Maybe we’ll be able to make it.

Hey Lyle,
According to the NY Auto Show website, autoshowny.com, the show runs from March 21-30. Did you mean a get-together after the show or during?
Would love to go, could you get the time straight so I can make plans? Thanks.

New York sounds good..

Hello All,
I am passing on this invite, I am in the wrong coast. But definitely will take the invite for March or April 2008 or whenever the NYAuto show is in NYC. Thanks
Wish you all a very Happy Volt-Holidays!

Wow, looks like we have a lot of east-coasters here. Maybe the Volt’s L.A. tour will drum up some more support from the left coast.

LA, NY?
What about us mid-country guys???
How about the Cleveland Auto Show Feb 23rd to Mar 2nd!

Lyle,
100K is a LOT of people. What’s this wait list look like now? How the heck can we validate or verify the accuracy of it?
If you ask me, GM should offer you a link and some assistance on this one.
December 9th, 2007 at 10:55 am
Lyle, NY sounds great. Only a couple of hours drive from me. See you there.
Dave B #17, you can see the wait list at the top of this page. It is currently at 6404.
Here is the link where you can sign up if you want to.

Sorry - the NY Auto Show is in March.
The three most common locations for visitors to this site are California, New York, and Texas, but every country in the world is represented.
The event will be happening. As I iron out the details, I’ll be letting everyone know about it..so stay tuned.

Rashiid at 19, thanks. I’m either blind or Firefox is a problem. Wonder why I can’t seem to find it.

There wasn’t a lot of foot traffic when I saw the Volt today at about 3:30, but I did get a free t-shirt!
December 9th, 2007 at 8:44 pm
Brian-
I was there probably about 30 seconds after you were. Like you said, not a lot of foot traffic, but the staff on hand were very nice. They work for GM’s hired PR firm, and I told them about GM-Volt. Not that we don’t have GM’s attention anyway.
The T-shirts have a cool phrase on the back of it -
“Are you plugged in?”
Makes it sound almost like something out of the matrix. Either that or like a rave drug.
December 9th, 2007 at 9:03 pm
yeah, pretty minimalistic t-shirt, but I like it anyway. I hope I can get the wrinkles out of it.
December 9th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
Haha…yeah it’s the first time I’ve been handed a crumpled-up t-shirt and mistaken it for a paper-weight. It was clever to have it scrunched up in the shape of a Volt though.
I’m wondering if GM is considering a Volt-specific ad slogan other than “gas friendly to gas-free”, or “the new electric car”.
I always thought some of the old EV1 commercials had a nice vibe:

Dave B, 21.
I only use Firefox. Right now I’m on
version 2.0.0.11
I don’t have any problems with it that I know of. The wait list is now up to 6480. The wait list is by itself in the banner to the right of the Volt. The link to it is at the very top above that.

Speaking of commercials, this unaired one is brilliant:

If the Volt is anywhere near as good as that commercial, we are in for a real treat!!
