My son needs to interview someone who has first hand information regarding the Chevy Volt for a high school Econ paper. His report is due March 17, so we would need to set something up right away. My cell number is 248-891-6238. Please let me know ASAP. I appreciate your help with this. Thanks, Tammy

We will run out of fossil fuels in the not too distant future. As anything gets rarer-it gets more expensive. I want my Volt today!!!
People who were used to the horse and buggy in the "old days" did not want to get the horseless carriage, either.
But to the people who mentioned going back to horse and buggy-have you any notion of what it costs to (properly) feed and care for a horse these days????

I am Disappointed from the blogs to learn that the Chey Volt is reaching a retail price near $40,000.

I understand that this is new technology however numerous issues needs to be considered before pricing this car around the $40K price, namely:

1) Many people will want to trade-in their car/truck for the Volt however (as is mostly the case) the trade-in values are so small that buying the Volt will place them in an upside-down position when it comes to financing, in other words GMAC most probably will have to add the balance of the car loan being traded in, onto the final price of the Volt--realistically another $5-$10,000 more.

2) The Chey Volt is a "Chevy", not a Cadillac. Just like the Toyota Prius is a "Toyota", not a Lexus. PLEASE PRICE THE VOLT ACCORDINGLY!

3) The rebates are a good start, however the Volt buyer still has to pay the retail price of the vehicle plus any negative equity from the trade-in, so the financed price over five years will be considerable.

4) Regarding the Rebates, It is practically impossible to determine from the IRS code where to place the rebate value (if any) to get the deduction. (previously it was line item 32 with the required term "clean fuel" written above line 32 along with the correct deduction amount)--do you think that the "average" Chevy taxpayer would be able to discover how to get this rebate? (I do not think the IRS is going to make it any easier to get a future rebate--given the state of the economy.)

I understand that this is a "terse" commentary; however I am writing this to present you (GM Execs and Designers), the hope that these financial issues will be addressed, so I can actually "afford" the Chey of my dreams. ...and I have actually dreamed of being able to obtain the Volt!

Thank you for your time!

If not out of the bed, kick oil to the other side of the bed, and get on with it!

Many will be happy with a 30 mile round trip capability before the vehicle needs to be plugged in.

Buyers, will make battery choice and will make changes as the technology improves and sales volume brings down prices.
