Oh, and it's not the NHTSA standards that give us dumb gas guzzlers, it's dump consumers who demand these types of vehicles. Does this mean they will only make it for foreign markets? Not for here in the US? The entire rest of the world shares one standard: The ECE Rules. Thats why they have been getting the decent cars... It would be cool that in 2010 when the first Volts come out of the Assembly line that we could be there in person. Maybe GM could have some type of big PR (which they are good at) program and allow general public to view the first ones being produced. That would be history in making. I live in the Detroit area.
