oh yeah toyotas real god, they have more recalls then any other company, pieces of shit, any 4 cyl. driven on flat roads will go 200,000 miles, my chevy pickup thats been abused is at 180k, toyotas are shit.

In fairness to GM the Japanese have a Democracy, not a lobbyocracy like we do, so they can think straight to design smart legislation that works.

1. They simply require cars get more than 45 miles per gallon.

Then they offered big incentives to encourage people to buy hybrids (ie half off!)which kickstarted their hybrid industry back in 1990. Now thats paying off for Japanese companies like Toyota.

The Bigthree here, married to EXXON, waste their R&D money on industry sponsored ads telling us gullible fossilfools to fight high mileage standards,

coz wots gud 4 EXXON z gud 4 Murka!

It is interesting to point out that Toyota has 11 manufacturing plants here in the US, so in a sense, Toyota is somewhat of a US car company. But I would posit that they do that to capitalize on a “Made in America” opportunity. For me in a sense, I am glad that Toyota has overtaken GM, for there’s strength in being the underdog…in being #2 so to speak. The pressure is off to “stay #1″ and hopefully that can mean the company re-focus’ on designing cars people want to drive and bringing them to market sooner, rather than just “playing it safe.” From my experience with GM, it takes them 3 years to design and build a prototype to bring to market. Could there be a quicker way, in order to capitalize on market forces and demand?

That's great! that's the power of Toyota community..everything is going right for Toyota in every way possible. It takes number one due to the fact that they are maintaining the quality and realibity with an excellent Toyota performance parts as it expands their production. Your taking the lead in the market today!

If you can’t keep up with the marketplace, you will be passed. GM’s boardroom has been dominated by fear and has played it “safe” for far too long. I only hope that the Volt will not be too little too late…

It’s time for GM to step-up, show some backbone and lead once again. RUN FORREST RUN!!!!
