Bob Fires Back! (and uses our tagline)

March 25th, 2007 | Posted in: Public Opinion

As we reported on Friday March 23, an article appeared in which GM was portrayed as wishing to cut back the hype on the Volt. Careful scrutiny of the article however did not really support that claim. Nothing could be further from the truth.
On Saturday, March 24, none other the Bob Lutz himself fired back at the reporter on his blog and used the same line we did. GM plans to “Charge Ahead”.

This car is unstoppable. Thanks Bob!

I am new to this site. Sorry to annoy the proponents of the technology (and this car in particular), but that is about the ugliest car I have seen since the ill-fated Aztek. Couldn’t Detroit hire one of the Southern California design outfits to make something more appealing? Give me this technology in a better package.

Good news…make the Volt happen and for once GM will be an industry leader…my next car WILL be an alternative fuel/hybrid sedan. I like the look of the Volt. It reminds me of the Pontiac Rageous concept from a few years ago…of course, it was a look that never happened….GM has had some of the best concept cars ever, but never had the guts to put them into production…and they wonder why Honda and Toyota are surpassing them.

I actually really like the look of the car. Cadillac started doing that angular look a few years back and I loved it. Most GM designs boring and bland…but this is great.

This car and Cadillac are the only reason I even look at GM.

Make it look like an Accord/Prius/Camry: normal, regular everymom.

SUV blocky styling appeals to the SUV customer, who really does not get it yet about the harm of gasoline.

So don’t put all your eggs in their basket!

I, though will buy the FIRST $25,000 EV that is freeway speed, drives 60 miles on a charge, has safe fast breaking action, and plugs in using a regular plug.

Looks are not a deal breaker. Either GMs Volt, or Phoenix’s (next cheaper) SUV or Tesla’s WhiteStar or the Miles Javlon. Or if ZENN makes a faster car (theirs is only 25 mph)

Just looked at it again. Thats a cute little egg. I guess I had seen an earlier version with more squared angles.
Sorry for calling it SUV styling. Wrong.

I just hope big oil is not able to squash this one. Without a distribution model ie Hydrogen they will be hurt very badly I know I will only fill up on long trips. thus maybe 5-10 fill ups a year. That would be up to 50 dollars a year not 1000 dollars it will be when gas hits 5 dollars a gallon. The largest profits for a company every

They WILL protect their bottom line… so I worry about high price on the volt or all out destruction with battery excuses… if the average Joe can build these (BTW they have FAR FAR fewer parts then a combustion engine) why can’t multi billion dollar companies? …. *big oil*
