Al Gore Recommends 90% reduction of CO2 emissions by 2050

March 21st, 2007 | Posted in: Latest News, Politics

Whatever you may think of him politically, Al Gore is bringing the issue of CO2 emissions and global warming to the forefront of public consciousness. Today he appeared before the congress to testify about global warming and recommend steps the U.S. goverment can take to help thwart it.

The reality is global warming is real and is happening; it may turn out to be less intense than Gore predicts, but it just as well could be worse. There are many reasons why the Volt should be mass-produced. These include cost savings in less need for fuel and reducing reliance on foreign governments. Reduction of CO2 emission and global warming risk is key.

Gore spoke to the congress about legislating improved fuel economy and specifically gave a 90% target reduction in CO2 emission by 2050.

Introducing the Volt will help, and concomitantly all the public and political attention will further the likelihood of production of the Volt. Economic incentives will go to the automakers, tax credits and moral imperatives will persuade the car buyers. Carbon taxes will influence corporations.

So in the end, this is not a partisan issue, but a moral imperative, and will get the Volt on the road.

I would agree with you this. Just because global warming cannot be proven at this time, doesn’t mean that humans are not responsible for the air quality in our busiest cities. I reduction in CO2 emissions will have a positive effect on everyone including the environment. The action that Gore is taking is commendable, in that if we want Auto Makers and Big Oil to change it will take the Government to pass laws to make them change.

Yesterday while reading Fark.com I can across a very interesting article about some Australian Researchers who are working on a way to get hydrogen from sea water using only the sun. If the technology proves its self in the next 5 to 10 years and can do what they are claiming an countries entire energy needs could be met by using this technology. http://www.smh.com.au/news/environment/science-turns-sun-surf-into-green-energy/2007/03/20/1174153066798.html

If you have an open mind, you will want hear both sides of a “global warming” story so you make up your own mind. Take a look at this movie titled “The Great Global Warming Swindle” on YouTube. http://youtube.com/watch?v=XttV2C6B8pU

According to the Ice Core data, Co2 increases AFTER temperature increases and therefore increased Co2 is a RESULT of warming, not a cause! Warmer oceans release Co2. Climate change is caused by solar activity, not cow farts or fossil fuels as Al “Chicken Little” Gore or other militant leftists would have us believe. There is a lot of very good info in this video.

The “Global Warming” hoax is the socialist’s grab at money and power. It’s politics, not science. They need us to surrender our money, power, responsibilities and freedoms to gov’t so they can “protect” us from ourselves. It’s all about the nanny state, comrade. That’s Ecofascism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eco-fascism.

We need E-Flex for energy security, operating cost reduction and to be good conservative stewards of our planet’s resources.

News organizations like to present the extreme views on both sides. I expect they get better ratings than if they tried to present the most credible information in an objective manner.

In regard to the film Tim mentioned, people might want to google “Carl Wunsch” and look up the term “polemic”.
