GFalconer,

I am sorry if my misuse of the word “since” in any distracted you from getting the actual point of my post. I am no literary major nor have I have claimed to be on this website or any other. Despite the obvious error I still believe my point was accurately conveyed.

I do not believe I have personally attacked anyone on this board besides giving my opinion of Al Gore. Which I said was my opinion and not supported by any facts. My opinion of Gore is more of a personal feeling that he could do more and be more efficient then he actually is. I know he buys all “Green Energy” for his home; however I do not believe he needs to use as much as he does, considering he is always preaching to the general public to be more efficient in our lives and not just with energy.

My problem with the movie is that it is billed as the truth, and that is simply not the case. The movie is based in what he believes to be the truth and twists the facts accordingly. The fact is right now nobody knows what is causing global warming and if it is actually happening. Like I said before we don’t know because we don’t have accurate records for a long enough period of time to prove or disprove anything. For people who are billing themselves as scientists they should never say for certain that we are causing anything with the limited amount of data we currently have a stand like that would be irresponsible and it would be ignoring the facts. On this topic we should just agree to disagree, if at some point every major climatologist says for a fact that we are the cause then so be it.

As for the war, I have way too much to comment about this on a PEV website dedicated to the GM Volt.

GF your right about the positives for the Volt and PEV’s in general are enormous and go way beyond things we have talked about on this site. The General Health of people is a huge positive; I believe people in the heavily populated areas, like LA, DC, NY and others will benefit greatly from it. Moving the CO2 back to the power planets is also great because the power plants can be and are regulated. As we become more reliant on the “Grid” regulations can become stricter to reduce CO2 and other emissions. The most obvious benefit is that as the Grid becomes more “Green” so will our cars.

The Volt and others like it will be a welcomed change to the car industry. I can’t wait for this car to go in to production, when it does I will be placing an advanced order for one. I appreciate this site and others like it that give updates about the Volt and general information about the technology. I just didn’t like politics and a BS movie being brought to a site where they really don’t have that much to do about the actual car. If someone in congress decides to kill this car or others like it then I would see a reason for posting.

GF, hopefully this post is more grammatically correct so you will actually be able to read it and not try to discredit me for having bad grammar.

LJ - Wow is right! Surprising how people polarize on the success of other people and ideas. I say "Way to go Al!" I also say blacksheep needs to use spellcheck or something to hide his lack of language skills. Credibility is severely impaired when you repeatedly use "since" instead of "sense". I'd believe a public figure who's been following this trend for, what, almost 20 years before I'd believe somebody who doesn't have a full grasp of our native language. You do have a good point about the wallet, but there are a multitude of other reasons why EV's are a good idea. Try health issues, an overseas war that is stretching way beyond projections, just like Vietnam. Seems to me if we spent less on that war and more on subsidizing PV installations and technology, we'd be way ahead. Even if we shift ALL the CO2 over to our electric generation plants, at least they are usually out away from the population. And we still have the opportunity to cleanup the carbon emissions there, as well as find and use other economically green ways of producing electricity. Hopefully we can get it together in time. Not hanging my hopes on GM either, but maybe they can pull it off.

LJ,

From my opinion the deliverer of the message is just as important as the message it’s self. Global warming is such a hot topic right now that a lot of the time you can't have two people with opposing views even talk about it without people getting off topic.

To me Al Gore is just not a trust worthy person or a person with great morals. That being said I don't know the man this is just MY opinion of him.

As for my opinion on global warming it is just way too soon to say with any certainty that man is the cause for any of the global warming at all. This is not to say that we aren't the problem but I don't really see how we are at this point in time. If some day I am proven wrong then so be it.

Like I hinted to in my first post the reason for the volt or other cars like them even living “Green” is because they make since. The ideas are good ones and technology has finally caught up to the need. When you think about it why doesn’t it make since to use very little to no gas in your daily drive to work? Why doesn’t it make since to have a house that uses very little electricity to heat and cool its self? I am not a tree hugger or some environmentalist; I am just being very realistic about this stuff. If we can build houses like the ones at http://enertia.com/ why do we need to build houses that are horribly inefficient? I can answer my own question its cost but the ROI on things like this are usually immediate or with in a few years.

All of us every where need to live smarter, build more efficiently and drive more efficiently not because it’s green but because it makes since. The tech is here now and what isn’t here yet is coming soon.
